FAQs
At Ornelas Family Dentistry, we’re always happy to address questions and concerns from our patients. For added convenience, we’ve compiled several popular frequently asked questions and their answers below! If you’ve already read through this page and still haven’t found the information you need, don’t hesitate to contact our team directly in Crown Point, IN.
Do you see children?
Absolutely. Our commitment to families is right there in our dental office name – we enjoy being able to make ongoing dental care convenient for you and all of your loved ones by offering dedicated services that support smiles at every stage of growth!
How often do I need a checkup and cleaning?
In most cases, Dr. Ornelas will recommend two of each in a calendar year. This gives our team the valuable opportunity to inspect your smile for any new, concerning changes and also eliminate plaque/tartar buildup at routine intervals. If there are outlying circumstances (such as the presence of gum disease or excessive sensitivity to tooth decay), arranging preventive care every 3-4 months may be more successful – we’ll be sure to let you know if this schedule is a better fit for your oral health needs!
Will my new crown/bridge/filling/etc look unnatural?
It certainly doesn’t have to! Dr. Ornelas is fully dedicated to using metal-free, all-ceramic materials whenever possible, including top-of-the-line brands like BruxZir® Solid Zirconia, EZ (Esthetic Zirconia), and E.max. Not only are these restorative solutions aesthetically pleasing, but they also offer comfort, biocompatibility, and long-lasting strength.
What’s the best way to replace missing teeth?
While there is no one perfect service for every single patient in need, our team will most likely recommend dental implants as the premier solution for recreating attractive, capable dental structure after tooth loss. Implants are exceptional because of their comprehensive structure – they seamlessly replace every part of the natural tooth for long-lasting durability and confidence. Please don’t hesitate to contact our dental office if you’d like to explore this transformative service in further detail during an initial consultation.
Do you see dental emergencies?
Yes! We strive to accommodate emergency cases as soon as possible – in many instances, we can even fit patients in on the same day as their initial call. Contact us right away if you or a loved one is experiencing a traumatic dental injury and/or severe oral pain.
I’m experiencing a lot of jaw pain. Can you help?
Chronic, unexplained jaw pain is usually a sign of bruxism (teeth grinding) or TMJ disorder. Please contact us right away to schedule a checkup – Dr. Ornelas can perform an in-depth screening and determine the cause/severity of your condition before recommending dedicated therapy like a custom-made nightguard/occlusal splint. Permanent relief is possible!
